Junkarri Highlights Second Round of Moon Golf Invite

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Holding steady in 13th place, the North Carolina women's golf team had a solid second round at the Moon Golf Invite shooting one-over-par 289 at Duran Golf Club on Monday in Melbourne, Fla.
As a team, the Tar Heels carded 14 birdies on the second day of competition. South Carolina maintained its lead through the second round, shooting 13-under-par 275.
Sophomore Krista Junkkari led UNC with five birdies to finish two-under-par 70 and improve to T47. Junkkari wrapped up the day shooting -3 on the front nine.
Junior Jennifer Zhou improved by five shots from the first round with an even par 72 finish. The junior carded two birdies on the back nine and finished the day with seven-consecutive pars.
Sophomore Kayla Smith holds the top spot for Carolina in T29, finishing one-over-par 73 on the second day of the Moon Golf Invite.
Freshmen Nicole Adam and Natalia Aseguinolaza rounded out UNC's lineup, shooting two-over-par 74 and three-over-par 75, respectively. Adam was even through her first nine holes and began the front nine with a birdie on the par-five, 505-yard first hole. Aseguinolaza birded the 18th hole for the second day in a row.
Paired wth Oklahoma, Coastal Carolina and Augusta, the Tar Heels wrap up the Moon Golf Invite Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. in Melbourne, Fla. Fans can follow live results on GolfStat.com.
