Heels Hold Final Preseason Scrimmage On Tuesday

Chapel Hill, NC --Â Tomas Frick drove in three runs with a home run and a double to lead the Navy squad to a 6-3 win over Blue under, believe it or not, sunny skies on Tuesday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium in Carolina's final preseason scrimmage.
Blue took a 2-0 lead in the second on Eric Grintz's two-run single to left. Navy got on the board in the fourth on Frick's solo home run to left to cut Blue's lead to 2-1.
Navy picked up a pair of runs in the top of the sixth to take a 3-2 lead. Johnny Castagnozzi scored from third on a balk before Clemente Inclan drove in a run with a single to left. Blue would then tie the score at 3-3 in the bottom of the inning when Caleb Roberts scored from third on a wild pitch.
Navy scored its final three runs in the top of the eighth. Frick drove in two runs with a double down the left field line before Castagnozzi scored on a throwing error for the final 6-3 margin.
Tanner Quick and Chris Joyner were the two starters. Michael Oh, Gage Gillian, Kyle Blendinger, Josh Dotson and Kyle Mott threw in relief.
The Tar Heels will open the 2021 season at home as they begin a three-game series against James Madison on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Boshamer Stadium.
