Culton to Compete in NCAA Regional

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Sophomore Elizabeth Culton will represent Carolina Gymnastics as an individual in the all-around competition set to take place Friday, April 2 at 1 p.m. Culton will be traveling Athens, Ga. to compete in the Athens Regional as a part of the 2021 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships.
As the sole competitor representing UNC in the NCAA Regionals this year, Culton will move through the rotations on April 2 with Oregon State, beginning on vault. Culton qualified for the Regional as an all-around competitor with an NQS of 39.356 and an average score of 39.196.
Culton's best event remains the balance beam, in which she currently holds an NQS of 9.950 and an average score of 9.908. Culton held the first place spot in the country on this event for the first three weeks of the season and remained within the top 5 for the following weeks.
Culton also earned her career-high score on the uneven bars in the East Atlantic Gymnastic League Championships last weekend at Pitt with a score of 9.925, raising her NQS to 9.875 and her average score on this event to 9.783.
On floor exercise, Culton has remained consistent. She holds and NQS of 9.863 and an average of 9.831. Despite not competing on vault for the first three meets of the season, she finished the season as an all-around competitor averaging a score of 9.712 and an NQS of 9.783.
Culton began and ended the season earning EAGL awards, first for Specialist of the Week, and in the final week of competition for Gymnast of the Week.
