Baseball Versus NC State Suspended In The Eighth Inning

CHAPEL HILL - Due to inclement weather in the eighth inning, the contest between No. 24 North Carolina and NC State was suspended with the Wolfpack leading 6-1.
The teams will resume action tomorrow (March 27) at noon. Game three of the series will take place 30 minutes after the conclusion of game two.
NC State took a two-run lead in the second inning after a home run to right-center field. The Wolfpack pushed its advantage to 3-0 after a fielding error by the Tar Heels in the third allowed a run to score.
Angel Zarate hit his second home run of the season in the sixth inning to cut the lead two. NC State took advantage of a fielding error in the seventh to reclaim the three-run lead and extended it to five with a two-run home run in the eighth.
Max Alba started the game for the Tar Heels and threw 2.0 innings. He surrendered three runs on five hits and recorded one strikeout. Shawn Rapp, Gage Gillian, Chris Joyner and Nik Pry combined for the next six innings of work and gave up three runs, one earned, and struck out four.
Mikey Madej will lead off the home-half of the eighth inning when play resumes tomorrow at noon.
Tickets to game three with be valid for the conclusion of game two in addition to game three.
