CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The top-ranked North Carolina field hockey team will return to action Friday for the first time in almost three weeks, hosting No. 15 Duke at Karen Shelton Stadium for a 2 p.m. game.
The game is open to fans, but only a limited number will be allowed in order to provide space for social distancing in the stands. Gates open at 1 p.m. and there is no charge for admission.
It's the final home game of the spring regular season so the Tar Heels will celebrate Senior Day, honoring Bryn Boylan, Amanda Hendry, Julia Herrington, Mimi Leonard, Megan Ragusa and Courtnie Williamson prior to the game.
It's the third meeting of 2020-21 between the Tar Heels and Blue Devils. The most recent matchup, on Oct. 18 in Chapel Hill, went into overtime, with UNC winning 5-4 on a goal by Hannah Griggs. In the season's first meeting, Carolina won 4-0 in Durham on Oct. 4.
UNC leads the all-time series against Duke 80-13-1.
The Tar Heels are 12-1 overall and 2-0 this spring following two shutout wins, 2-0 over both Louisville and Wake Forest. Duke is 3-10 overall and 1-3 this spring.
UNC hasn't played since a win at Wake Forest on March 13.
