Culton Shines in NCAA Regional

ATHENS, Ga. – North Carolina women's gymnastics team sophomore Elizabeth Culton competed in the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships in the Athens Regional on Friday afternoon.
Culton moved through the rotations with Oregon State as an all-around competitor and they began the meet on vault. Culton posted a score of 9.575 on vault in the first rotation of the competition.
Moving into the second rotation, Culton was able to secure a score of 9.875 on the uneven bars. This is the second time Culton has posted the score this season and it marks her second-highest score of the 2021 competition season. In the EAGL conference Championship, Culton posted her career-high score on this event with an impressive 9.925.
Balance beam marked the third rotation for the North Carolina gymnast, and she received a score of 9.550 – her lowest score in 2021. Beam was Culton's most consistent event throughout the regular competition season, with an average of 9.908 and a NQS of 9.950.
In the final rotation, Culton was able to secure a 9.850 on floor exercise. Aside from the 9.900 Culton received against William & Mary in the final meet of the regular season, this score ties her season-high.
Culton finished the day with a 38.850 in the all-around competition in the Athens Regional.
