Softball Drops Both in Doubleheader Versus Blue Devils
April 23, 2021 | Softball
DURHAM, N.C. – Although the Tar Heels rallied in the top of the seventh, scoring two runs, it was not enough to win the second game of the doubleheader versus the Duke Blue Devils on Friday night at Duke Softball Stadium, dropping 9-4. Carolina also fell to Duke in the first of the twin bill in six innings, 8-0.
In the first of the two under the lights in Durham, the Tar Heels could not find their rhythm and catch Duke. The Blue Devils took the lead in the bottom of the first, and scored in every inning except for the fifth.
Game two started differently for the Tar Heels, with a two-run Taylor Greene home run to open the game in the top of the first. Although Duke came back to pass the Heels, Carolina rallied in the top of the seventh, scoring two and loading the bases for the two-out rally, but ran out of time before catching the Blue Devils.
North Carolina (12-22, 8-16 ACC) faces Duke (32-10, 18-4 ACC) on Sunday to finish the series, with a day off in between due to inclement weather in the Triangle. First pitch is at noon, with coverage by ACC Network Extra.
