Guthridge To Be Inducted Into Assistant Coaches Hall of Fame

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Former University of North Carolina assistant and head coach Bill Guthridge will join the A STEP UP Assistant Coaches Hall of Fame Class of 2020 on May 2, the organization announced.
The Class of 2020 was announced in March 2020 but due to state shutdowns and travel restrictions imposed across America by the Covid-19 pandemic, the ceremony was postponed. Safety concerns remain for everyone's wellbeing and as a result A STEP UP, Inc. will honor the Class of 2020 at a 'virtual' Hall of Fame Ceremony on Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 5 pm – 7 pm EST.

Guthridge was an assistant coach at Carolina under Dean Smith for 30 seasons before taking over as head coach for three years from 1997-98 through 1999-2000. He joined the Tar Heel staff in 1967 after five years as an assistant to Tex Winter at Kansas State. In his 33 years at Carolina, the Tar Heels won two NCAA titles, played in 12 Final Fours and won the ACC Tournament 13 times.
