Five Tar Heels Named To All-ACC Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Five Tar Heels received All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors Wednesday as the league announced its men's lacrosse awards for 2021. Senior Justin Anderson, junior Will Bowen, senior Chris Gray, junior Connor Maher and sophomore Matt Wright were named to the 19-member squad.
Earlier on Wednesday, Gray was announced as the Offensive Player of the Year. UNC's Joe Breschi is the 2021 ACC Coach of the Year.
The All-ACC Team and award winners were determined by a vote of the league's five head coaches.
UNC and Duke, which shared this year's ACC title, placed five players each on the team.
Virginia had four honorees, Notre Dame three and Syracuse two.
All five ACC programs have earned bids to the 2021 NCAA Tournament, which begins Saturday. North Carolina (1), Duke (2), Virginia (4) and Notre Dame (6) each earned seeds, while Syracuse also claimed an at-large bid. At least one current ACC member team has advanced to the national semifinals in 39 of the last 40 years, and the current five ACC teams have combined for 24 national championships.
