Carolina Honors Top 10 Scholar-Athletes

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – UNC has announced the winners of this year's Top 10 Scholar-Athlete awards, recognizing the seniors who have maintained the highest cumulative grade point averages while representing the University of North Carolina as a member of a varsity team.
The annual recognitions go to the top five men and top five women. This year's honorees carry a combined average GPA of 3.91.
The 2020-21 honorees are:
• Will Bowen, Men's Lacrosse
• Natalie Chandler, Women's Soccer
• Gino Esposito, Wrestling
• Alex Helms, Men's Lacrosse
• Rachel Jones, Women's Soccer
• Andrew Fregenal, Men's Fencing
• Gage Gillian, Baseball
• Lindsey Lanier, Women's Cross Country/Track & Field
• Camryn Petit, Women's Cross Country/Track & Field
• Emerson Porter, Women's Track & Field
Bowen, from Cohasset, Mass., majored in business administration with an entrepreneurship minor. He plans to begin the Master of Finance program at Georgetown University in the fall.
Chandler, from Hillsborough, N.C., majored in health policy & management with a minor in environmental science and studies. She will attend the University of St Andrews in Scotland to earn a Master of Science in Sustainable Development.
Esposito, from Milford, Conn., majored in business administration with an emphasis in consulting. He will pursue a Master of Accounting degree from UNC's Kenan-Flagler Business School while continuing to compete for the Tar Heels.
Frenegal, from Apex, N.C., majored in biology with minors in chemistry and medical anthropology. He plans to attend medical school in the fall.
Gage Gillian, from Spring Hill, Tenn., majored in management & society. He transferred to UNC after two years at Walters State Community College and plans to play professionally after completing his Tar Heel career.
Alex Helms, from Matthews, N.C., earned a double major in business administration and political science. He plans to work in investment banking in Charlotte.
Rachel Jones, from Lawrenceville, Ga., majored in public policy with a minor in Spanish for business. She will enroll at UNC School of Law this fall while continuing to compete for the Tar Heels.
Lindsey Lanier, from Charlotte, N.C., majored in biology with a minor in neuroscience. She plans to begin physician assistant school in the fall.
Camryn Petit, from Braselton, Ga., will graduate in December 2021 with a major in neuroscience and minors in chemistry and Spanish for the professions. She plans to attend medical school.
Emerson Porter, from Charlotte, N.C., majored in business administration with a minor in chemistry. She will pursue a Master of Accounting degree from UNC's Kenan-Flagler Business School while continuing to compete for the Tar Heels.
