Tar Heel Catcher Taylor Greene Named to All-ACC Academic Team

Tar Heel junior Taylor Greene has been named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Softball Team, as announced on Monday by the league. The honor takes into account both athletic and academic performance during the 2020-21 season.

A catcher from Milton, Ga., Greene is majoring in Economics at Carolina. In this, her first season as a Tar Heel after transferring from the University of Arkansas, she started 34 games at the plate, and had a perfect fielding percentage. Greene was similarly honored by the SEC for her academic achievements as a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2020.

Greene is among 38 softball student-athletes to win the honor, which requires a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
