Incoming Infielder Honored as Female Athlete of the Year

CHAPEL HILL – Carolina Softball and head coach Donna J. Papa are thrilled to announce that incoming freshmen utility player, Alex Brown, has been named the Coastal Empire High School Sports Award Female Athlete of the Year.
An award show honoring the best high school athletes in the Savannah, Ga. Region, the Coastal Empire High School Awards also honored 23 local athletes in addition to Brown for their accomplishments competing in high school athletics. Brown was also named the All-Greater Savannah Softball Player of the Year.
A four-year starter on the South Effingham High School's softball team, Brown, a native of Savannah, is no stranger to honors and awards. The incoming infielder has also received recognition such as all-region and all-state for her performances on the diamond.
Brown, the daughter of Kevin and Lynn Brown, will take the diamond for the Tar Heels in the spring, and plans to major in Business Administration.
