Softball Adds Transfer Pitcher Talia Hannappel

CHAPEL HILL – Head coach Donna J. Papa is pleased to announce the addition of Pitcher, Talia Hannappel. Hannappel joins the Tar Heel program after spending her freshman year at the University of New Mexico.
A graduate of Edison High School in 2020, Hannappel threw a no-hitter against Woodbridge High school, as well as a no-hitter through five innings against Marina High School to send her alma mater to the playoffs.
Her first career strikeout was recorded against Oklahoma State in the 2021 season for the Lobos. Hannappel also excels in the classroom, being honored on New Mexico's Dean's List.
"I am very excited for this new opportunity as a Tar Heel," Hannappel said. "I look forward to being a part of this team and competing at a high level in Chapel Hill very soon."
A native of Huntington Beach, Calif., Hannappel is the daughter of Roman and Nick and has one sister, Sofia. She plans on studying biology while at Carolina, with the goal of being an orthopedic surgeon in the future.
