Navy Takes Friday's Scrimmage

Chapel Hill, NC -- Â After falling behind in the first inning, the Navy squad came back to take a 5-1 win over the Blue squad in an eight-inning scrimmage on Friday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium on a perfect day for baseball.
Brandon Eike's run-scoring single to center in the bottom of the first gave Blue its only run of the game. Clemente Inclan then tied the game at 1-1 with a long home run to right in the third. Tyler Causey's single to center in the fourth gave Navy the lead for good at 2-1.
Mikey Madej scored on a fielder's choice for a 3-1 lead in the sixth. Navy scored a pair of runs in the top of the eighth for the final 5-1 score. Clemente Inclan's nice bunt on a safety squeeze drove in a run, then Will Stewart scored on a wild pitch.
Vance Honeycutt was 2-3 with one RBI and one run scored for Navy. Tyler Causey, Eric Grintz, Clemente Inclan and Alex Ritzer each had one hit apiece. Inclan had two RBI and Ritzer had a double to left center.
Brandon Eike was 2-3 with one RBI to lead Blue. Patrick Alvarez, Joe Jaconski, Tomas Frick and Angel Zarate each had one hit.
Nik Pry started for Navy and gave up one run in three innings pitched. The trio of Kyle Mott, Caden O'Brien and Gage Gillian combined to shut out Blue the rest of the way. Connor Bovair, Caleb Cozart and Davis Palermo threw for Blue.
The Heels' next scrimmage will be on Saturday afternoon.
