January 25, 2022 | Football
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Kamari Morales and Asim Richards have earned a spot on the All-ACC Academic Football Team for their outstanding academic and athletic performances during the 2021 season.
Morales, a sophomore tight end from Buck Lake, Florida, appeared in all 13 games last fall and tied for second on the team with receiving touchdowns and was third with 24 receptions and 220 receiving yards. The five TDs were the most by a Tar Heel tight end since 2002.Â
A junior from Philadelphia, Richards started all 13 games on the offensive line in 2021. He blocked for an offense that ranked among the top 20 programs nationally in points (35.2), total yards (468.2) and rushing yards (212.5) per game.
Both student-athletes are majoring in exercise and sport science.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
Â
The ACC Academic Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
