Hubert Davis Named Grand Marshal For NASCAR Roval 400 In Charlotte

CONCORD, N.C. – North Carolina head coach Hubert Davis will lead a star-studded list of dignitaries for the annual Bank of America ROVAL 400 on Sunday October 9 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, including a bevy of familiar names from the worlds of sports and entertainment.
Davis will kick off the most anticipated race in the NASCAR Playoffs when he gives the command for drivers to fire up their engines ahead of Sunday's Bank of America ROVALÂ 400.
A native of Winston-Salem, N.C., Davis was named the 20th head coach for the legendary Tar Heels in 2021. He is the first Black head coach in the history of Carolina basketball. Davis led the team to the NCAA East Regional championship and beat Duke in the Final Four to advance to the national championship game in 2022.
A graduate of UNC, Davis played for legendary coach Dean Smith before being selected by the New York Knicks with the 20th overall pick in the 1992 NBA draft. After 12 seasons in the NBA, Davis spent seven years as an analyst for ESPN before returning to Chapel Hill as an assistant coach to Hall of Famer Roy Williams in 2012.
