Downs Named Biletnikoff Award Semifinalist

CHAPEL HILL – Junior wide receiver Josh Downs has been named one of 12 semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc. announced on Monday. The Biletnikoff Award recognizes college football's outstanding receiver, not merely college football's outstanding wide receiver. The three finalists for the award will be announced on Tuesday, Nov. 29.

A Suwanee, Ga. native, Downs is having another monster season for the Tar Heels, despite missing two games early in the year. He currently leads the ACC in receptions with 77, TDs with 11 and receiving yards per game at 97.6. His 11 TDs and 8.6 receptions per game rank second nationally among Power 5 receivers, while his 97.6 yards per game rank third.

Doing most of his damage from the slot, Downs leads all Power 5 receivers with 63 receptions and 10 contested catches from that alignment. His 11 TDs and 37 first downs rank second in that group.
