WBB Up To No. 8 In AP Poll
November 21, 2022 | Women's Basketball
North Carolina climbed five spots to No. 8 in this week's Associated Press women's basketball poll, released on Monday. It's the Tar Heels' highest AP ranking since the 2014-15 season, when Carolina climbed as high as sixth in December before finishing the year at No. 15. UNC hasn't been in the top 10 since that season.
The Tar Heels (4-0) head for Portland, Oregon, this weekend to play in the Phil Knight Invitational. They'll face No. 18 Oregon on Thursday and either No. 5 Iowa State or Michigan State on Sunday. After that trip the next game is also against a ranked opponent as the Tar Heels travel to face No. 6 Indiana in Bloomington on Dec. 1 in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.
Carolina is coming off a win in its first road game of the season, 76-65 at James Madison on Sunday. It's UNC's fourth time in coach Courtney Banghart's four seasons at the program's helm that the Tar Heels have opened 4-0.
