Lautt Named Season’s Final ACC Wrestler Of The Week

CHAPEL HILL – North Carolina wrestler Clay Lautt was named ACC Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday afternoon following the biggest win of his collegiate career in last Friday night's regular-season finale versus NC State. It is the third time this season he has received the honor and it is the sixth time a UNC wrestler has won the weekly award.
Lautt tallied six dual points for the Tar Heels, as he pinned fourth-ranked and previously unbeaten Hayden Hidlay via fall at the 3:34 mark. The loss was the first-ever versus a conference opponent for Hidlay.
The victory was the highest-ranked win of his career. Lautt also became the first student-athlete since NC State's Hayden Hidlay in 2020 to be named ACC Wrestler or Co-Wrestler of the Week three times in one season.
Ranked eighth in the 174-weight class, Lautt finishes the regular season with a 14-4 overall record and 9-4 in duals.
