Softball Splits Boston College Double Header

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Carolina softball team split its Friday doubleheader with Boston College in its ACC opener, falling 4-2 in game one before earning a 5-3 win in game two.
Taylor Greene led the team offensively, tallying a squad-best three hits and three RBIs on the day with a home run. Bri Stubbs also hit her first career home run in the second game with a solo shot to lead off the bottom of the first.
In the circle, Hannah George improved to 8-0, allowing three runs in six innings of work with two strikeouts and three walks.
Talia Hannappel earned her third save of the season, working a scoreless seventh inning in game two, becoming the first ACC pitcher with three saves this season.

- Carolina's first hit of the game came off the bat of Kiannah Pierce in the bottom of the second, when the sophomore outfielder led off the inning with a single to the shortstop
- After two scoreless innings, Boston College was able to take the lead in the top of the third, hitting a solo home run
- With three hits in the top of the fourth, the Eagles were able to plate a second run in the top of the fourth, going up 2-0
- Boston College hit two more home runs in the game, hitting one in the top of the fifth and one in the top of the sixth to lead 4-0
- Carolina was able to get on the board in the bottom of the seventh when Taylor Greene hit her second home run of the season, a two-run shot over the center field wall to cut the score to 4-2
- Lilli Backes (2-7) took the loss in the circle for Carolina, pitching 4.1 innings with three runs, three strikeouts and seven hits

- Carolina jumped out to an early lead in game two, with Bri Stubbs leading off the bottom of the first with her first career home run, a solo shot to center
- After Stubbs' home run, Jubas was walked, followed by a Greene single. Alex Brown then reached base on an error, which scored Jubas, giving Carolina a 2-0 lead after the first
- Boston College evened up the game at 2 all in the bottom of the fifth with their fourth home run of the day
- The Eagles took the lead in the top of the sixth, getting two on base with a single and a hit by pitch, followed by a fielder's choice which plated one run to make it a 3-2 game
- With two outs in the bottom of the sixth, back-to-back walks from Stubbs and Skyler Brooks were plated with a two RBI double by Jubas to make it 4-2
- Greene plated the last run of the game with a RBI single to center, making it a 5-2 going into the seventh
- Talia Hannappel allowed just one hit in the top of the seventh to secure the win
