CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Carolina softball team clinched its three-game series with Boston College on Sunday with an 8-3 win at Anderson Stadium. Freshman Lilli Backes earned her third win of the season in the circle in the victory, tossing 5.2 scoreless innings and allowing just two hits. Six different Tar Heels tallied a hit in the game, including a team-high two hits from sophomore Skyler Brooks in three at-bats.

Lexi Godwin and Kiannah Pierce each had a multi-RBI days, with Godwin batting in three runners.

After a scoreless first, the Eagles took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second, hitting back-to-back home runs
The Tar Heels took the lead in the bottom of the second, plating two runs on two hits and an error, highlighted by a bases-clearing three-RBI double from Godwin
Carolina added to its lead in the bottom of the fourth. Skyler Brooks got the offense started with a one-out single, followed by a Sara Jubas walk. Taylor Greene then plated Brooks with a RBI single, followed by a two RBI double from Pierce to give the Heels a 7-3 lead
The Tar Heels plated their eighth run of the game in the bottom of the sixth. Alex Brown hit a sacrifice fly into center which scored Jubas
Backes (3-6) earned her first win in the circle since Feb. 23 vs. NCA&T
