George Tosses No-Hitter in 2-0 Win Over UNCW

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Behind Carolina's first no-hitter since 2013, the Tar Heels earned a 2-0 midweek victory over UNCW (17-4) at Anderson Stadium on Tuesday night.
Senior Hannah George tossed her third complete-game shutout of the season in her first career no-no, finishing with seven strikeouts and two walks. George improved to 9-0 in the circle in the victory. She is just one of four ACC pitchers without a loss.
Carolina's two runs came off the bat of senior Taylor Greene, who hit a two-run home run in the first inning, her third long-ball in seven games.
The Tar Heels (15-10, 2-1 ACC) tallied four hits on the night, with Kiannah Pierce going 2-of-2 at the plate and Greene and Alex Brown each recording one.
Notables
· George's no-hitter was UNC's first since Lori Spingola tossed one against vs. North Dakota State on Feb. 21, 2013. It is the 54th no-hitter in school history
· Carolina was the first team to hold UNCW scoreless all season. The Tar Heels also broke a seven-game Hawk winning streak
· The matchup was third straight shutout in the series between UNC and UNCW
· Bri Stubbs drew her eighteenth walk of the season to leadoff the game
· Carolina improves to 30-3 at home over the Hawks
