RALEIGH, N.C.  - Carolina is advancing to the second round of the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Regionals after a 195.725-195.250 winner-takes-all victory over Towson on Wednesday afternoon in Reynolds Coliseum.Â

Junior Elizabeth Culton led the team with meet-high scores on all three events she competed: floor (9.850), bars (9.850) and beam (9.925).

How it Happened
The Tar Heels earned the win in dramatic fashion after trailing for the first half of the meet.Â
The Tar Heels will face No. 3 Michigan, No. 14 UCLA and No. 20 Maryland at 7 p.m. on Thursday night. The meet will stream on ESPN+ live from Raleigh.Â

How it Happened
The Tar Heels earned the win in dramatic fashion after trailing for the first half of the meet.Â
- Carolina opened the meet on bars, posting a team score of 48.700. The first rotation was highlighted by a 9.850 from Culton and a 9.80 from Isabelle Schaefer. The Tar Heels trailed the Tigers 48.950-49.48.700 after rotation one
- Carolina was able to put together a solid second rotation together on vault, with scores from Emery Summey (9.825), Cory Shinohara (9.80) and Julia Knower (9.80) leading Carolina
- At the halfway mark of the meet, the Tar Heels were able to chip into the Towson, trailing just 97.850-97.650
- In rotation three on floor, Carolina posted a team score of 48.800, led by a 9.85 from Culton
- A stellar beam rotation that earned a 49.275 team score, Carolina's second-best score of the season and best since Jan. 22, secured the victory for the Tar Heels. Culton's 9.925 was the highest score of the meet on the event, while junior Bri Greenlow, in her first-time anchoring the event, posted a career-best 9.875Â
