CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. - Chris Gray notched his eighth hat trick of the season and led the team with four points, but North Carolina (7-4, 0-3 ACC) couldn't overcome two four-goal runs from No. 7 Virginia (8-2, 4-0 ACC) as the Cavaliers earned the win 11-4.

- Virginia's Payton Cormier connected on the game's first goal, but Chris Gray would soon answer with back-to-back goals to give the Tar Heels the lead midway through the first quarter.
- Both teams would trade goals before the Cavaliers would score four straight goals to end the first half and put them up 6-3 at the break.
- Late in the third quarter, Chris Gray would score to secure the hat trick and trim the deficit to 8-4.
- Virginia would seal the victory with a four-goal run to end the game.
