CHAPEL HILL – North Carolina men's lacrosse players Chris Gray and Connor Maher were named All-America by USA Lacrosse Magazine, announced Tuesday night.
Gray earned first-team All-America honors and was selected second in the 2022 Premier Lacrosse League College Draft last night. He led the Tar Heels in goals (48) and assists (32) this year. After collecting six points in his final collegiate game against Duke, Gray now stands atop the NCAA Division I all-time career points list with 401 career points passing Lyle Thompson of Albany. Gray cements himself in the Carolina history books as he finishes his career for the Tar Heels second all-time in career points (219), fourth in career goals (124), and fourth in career assists (95).
Maher earned second-team All-America honors for his stellar play as a short-stick defensive midfielder. A team captain and the leader of the Tar Heel defense, he finished the season second on the team in ground balls (43) and caused turnovers (8). He also scored his third career goal against rival Duke in the season's final game.
