Baseball Set To Open Super Regional Against Arkansas

CHAPEL HILL — Tenth-seeded North Carolina will host the Arkansas this weekend in a best-of-three Super Regional at Boshamer Stadium. This is the second all-time meeting between the Heels and Razorbacks and first since the 1989 College World Series.
Game one between North Carolina (42-20) and Arkansas (41-19) will air on ESPN at 11 a.m. ET on Saturday, June 11, and game two will be broadcast on either ESPN or ESPN2 on Sunday, June 12, at 1 p.m.
Carolina emerged from the loser's bracket in the Chapel Hill Regional to earn its 10th Super Regional Appearance, while Arkansas beat seventh-seeded Oklahoma State twice to capture the Stillwater Regional title and earned its 10th Super Regional Appearance.

The Tar Heels went 4-1 at the Chapel Hill regional last weekend, posting two wins over VCU and single victories over Georgia and Hofstra. UNC opened regional play with a 15-4 win over Hofstra before falling 4-3 to VCU in the winner's bracket game. Then in its first of three consecutive elimination games, the Heels held off Georgia, 6-5, and then routed VCU, 19-8. Twenty-four hours later, UNC claimed the regional championship with their second straight victory over VCU, 7-3.
CAROLINA IN 10TH SUPER REGIONAL
• North Carolina is making its 10th Super Regional appearance this weekend and hosting a regional for the eighth time. The Tar Heels have advanced to the College World Series in seven of their previous nine Super Regional appearances, including six of seven as host.
• The Diamond Heels previously hosted Super Regionals in 2006, '07, '08, '09, '11, '13, '18 and '19, advancing to the CWS each year but 2019 when Auburn beat UNC in the best of three series, 2-1.
• North Carolina received the No. 10 overall seed for the 2022 NCAA Tournament after winning the ACC Baseball Championship and compiling a 38-19 overall record.
• UNC is making its third Super Regional appearance in the last four NCAA tournaments (2018, 2019, 2022).
• North Carolina is one of 13 programs to appear in 10 or more NCAA Baseball Super Regionals since the field expanded to 64 teams in 1999.
COMING IN HOT
• North Carolina enters the 2022 NCAA Baseball Super Regionals winners of 11 of their last 12 games following its sweep of Florida State to end the regular season, four-game sweep through the ACC Tournament and a 4-1 mark to capture the Chapel Hill Regional title.
• The Tar Heels have won 19 of their last 22 games since being swept at Virginia (April 22-24) and are 18-3 since the exam break.
• UNC won its final three ACC series, taking two of three from both NC State and Wake Forest before sweeping Florida State.
• Carolina is 21-15 against teams in this year's NCAA Baseball Championship field.
• North Carolina has posted 21 wins over Quad 1 opponents, tying Oklahoma for the second-most in the country behind Tennessee (25). The Tar Heels' 37 games against Quad 1 opponents are the second-most in the country behind Florida (38).
HOME SCHOOLED
• Carolina compiled a 33-7 record at home this season, which included a 10-5 mark against ACC opponents. UNC won 14 of its last 16 games at The Bosh.
• The Diamond Heels are 23-2 at Boshamer Stadium against non-conference opponents this season. UNC won its first 14 games outside the ACC at home before sustaining the first blemish on its schedule. Carolina finished its home non-conference slate by winning its final five games (Campbell, Liberty, Charlotte, Gardner-Webb, Charleston Southern).
• Carolina has won 36 of its last 43 games at The Bosh dating back to the final four home games of 2021.
