Softball Adds Tennessee Transfer Bailey McCachren

CHAPEL HILL – Carolina softball head coach Donna J. Papa has announced the addition of transfer pitcher Bailey McCachren. McCachren arrives in Chapel Hill from Knoxville after spending her freshman and sophomore seasons at Tennessee.
As a sophomore, McCachren made 18 apperances in the circle, starting eight games for the Lady Vols. In 40.1 innings of work, she tallied 24 strikeouts, finishing the season with a 5-2 record and a 4.14 ERA.
She tallied her first career victory over a top-25 opponent against No. 24 UCF on Feb. 19, throwing 2.2 scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts.
As a freshman, McCachren pitched 35 innings in 12 appearances, including six starts, posting a 5-0 record in the circle with two complete game shutouts. She had a 2.40 ERA, with 16 strikeouts and limited opponents to a .216 batting average.
She was named a 2021 Easton/NFCA Scholar Athlete and to the 2020-21 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.
A native of Cumming, Ga., McCachren is the daughter of Brandy and Brian McCachren and was an all-region pitcher at Forsyth Central High School.
