Pence, Starnes Selected As CPL All-Stars

CHAPEL HILL – Diamond Heel pitchers Dalton Pence and Carson Starnes have been named to the 2022 Coastal Plains League West Division All-Star Team according to an announcement from the league over the weekend.
Pence, who is pitching for the Forest City Owls this summer, received the most votes of any West Division pitcher and will start the 22nd annual game at Dick Sears Field at Ting Stadium in Holly Springs on July 10.
Coming off an injury that forced him to miss the 2022 season, Pence is 4-0 with a 0.93 ERA in 29.1 innings pitched after allowing a mere three earned runs with 22 strikeouts. Further, he features a 0.86 WHIP, a .157 BAA and an average of 6.8 strikeouts per nine innings.
A member of the Lexington County Blowfish, Starnes is 1-0 with a 3.75 ERA in six appearances, including three starts. He has 24 strikeouts in 24.0 innings pitched, fanning an average of 9.0 batters per nine innings. He is holding opposing hitters to a .258 batting average with a 1.38 WHIP.

CAPE COD LEAGUE
Connor Bovair and Johnny Castagnozzi are both playing from the Chatham Anglers this summer. Bovair has made three appearances, struck out six and walked just two in 5.1 innings pitched. He fanned four Orleans' batters in 3.0 innings of work on June 29. Castagnozzi has been playing third base for the Anglers and has one home run in 10 games.
Tomas Frick and Will Sandy are teammates with the Bourne Braves. Sandy has made two appearances on the mound with four strikeouts in 4.0 innings pitched, while Frick has played in just four games.
Hunter Stokely is the fifth member of the Diamond Heels playing the on the cape and only one on the Harwich Mariners' roster. He has two doubles in five games played.
COASTAL PLAINS LEAGUE
Reece Holbrook has stolen three bases and scored four runs in eight games for the Lexington County Blowfish since joining the team following UNC's run to the Super Regional. He also has a pair of multi-hit games.
Patrick Alvarez and Alberto Osuna are teammates with the Holly Springs Salamanders. Osuna has hit four home runs in 14 games with an OPS of .922. Alvarez has played in six games with six RBIs, four runs, two steals and has drawn seven walks.
Eric Grintz is hitting .481 with an OPS of 1.526 for the HP-Thomasville HiToms. Eight of his 13 hits have gone for extra bases, including a pair of home runs. He has four multi-hit games and three multi-RBI games in seven games played.
FLORIDA LEAGUE
Alden Segui has made one appearance for the Sanford River Rats, striking out three in 2.0 inning pitched.
NEW ENGLAND COLLEGIATE BASEBALL LEAGUE
Joe Jaconski has collected 10 hits in 12 hits for the Mystic Schooners with seven runs and a pair of RBIs. Justin Szestowicki has played in 16 games for the Ocean State Waves with five runs, four RBIs and four stolen bases.
NORTHWOODS LEAGUE
Dylan King has played in 10 games for the La Crosse Loggers, posting am .862 OPS with a home run and six RBIs. He went 4-for-5 in his June 16 debut and followed with a three-hit game on June 20. Colby Wilkerson has four RBIs and seven runs scored in 12 games played for the Rochester Honkers with a pair of multi-hit games.
