Littlefield Signs Pro Contract
July 9, 2022 | Women's Basketball
Carlie Littlefield is taking her talents abroad.
Â
The Tar Heel guard has signed a contract to play professional basketball in Belgium. Â She'll join the Liège Panthers, a Belgium League team based in Liège, Belgium, beginning in September
Â
"I first recruited Carlie out of Des Moines, Iowa, seven years ago," UNC coach Courtney Banghart said. "Watching her grow as a player on both ends of the ball and mature as an elite floor and locker room leader has been one of my greatest joys as a coach. You can always judge the value of a player by how many teams they've been on that win. Carlie is a champion, a relentless worker, and she's been the floor general on every team that she's been on.
Â
"The Liège Panthers just got one of the best true point guards in the country. We will miss her tremendously, but bring on the live stream!"
Â
In her only season in Chapel Hill, Littlefield started all 32 games, averaging 8.8 points and a team-high 2.7 assists in 29.8 minutes per game. A team captain, she helped the Tar Heels to a 25-7 record and the program's first Sweet 16 berth since 2015.
Â
She'll continue working toward her Kenan-Flagler MBA through online classwork. Â
Â
Littlefield is currently playing professionally for the Chicago Force in the Red Bull 3X league. Â
Â
The Tar Heels welcome back the other four starters and the other eight of their top nine scorers from 2021-22.
