Hansen Named ACC Defensive Player Of The Week
August 23, 2022 | Women's Soccer
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Senior Tori Hansen has been named the ACC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the first week of the season, the conference announced Tuesday. This is the first weekly honor of her career.
Hansen played all 180 minutes in two games last week. She anchored a defense that posted back-to-back shutouts to start the season, including a 2-0 win over UNCW with preseason All-ACC defender Maycee Bell unavailable. She made several key tackles in UNC's 3-0 triumph over No. 11 Tennessee in the season opener on Thursday, while also scoring a goal in the second half against the Lady Vols, as she headed the ball into the net off a cross from Sam Meza to put UNC up 2-0. It was her second career goal and first since May 5, 2021, against Washington.
Hansen and the No. 10 Tar Heels will return to action this weekend on the road with a pair of games in Austin, Texas beginning with a matchup against the host Longhorns on Thursday, Aug. 25, at 8 p.m. ET. The match will be televised on the Longhorn Network.
SEASON TICKETS
Season tickets are on sale at goheels.com, starting at $64 for general admission and $80 for reserved seating.
