Women's Tennis Announces Fall Schedule

CHAPEL HILL - The North Carolina women's tennis program will compete in seven events this fall, including the season-opening Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic on Sept. 16-18.
The 35th installment of the Furman Fall Classic will take place in Greenville, South Carolina. Carolina will be joined in the event by fellow ACC foes Clemson, Duke, Georgia Tech and Wake Forest. Additionally, the host Paladins will welcome Mississippi State, Ohio State, South Carolina and Vanderbilt to Mickel Tennis Center.
The Tar Heels are also one of three local schools that will host the ITA All-American Championships at Cary Tennis Center in Cary, N.C. Established in 1983, the All-American Championships features the nation's top NCAA Division I players and for the first time Duke, NC State, UNC and the Town of Cary will host the event that runs Oct. 1-9.
The weekend of Sept. 23-25 will be a busy one with team members competing at both the Wolfpack Invitational in Cary and the Charlotte Invitational in Charlotte, N.C.
The ITA Regional Championships are once again in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Oct. 13-17.
Advancing players form the regional championships will go to the season-ending ITA National Fall Championships Nov. 2-6 in San Diego, Calif. Fiona Crawley and Elizabeth Scotty are the defending doubles national champions.
The Tar Heels will also compete at the Jimmy Powell Invitational Oct. 28-29 in Elon, N.C.
