Maher Tabbed USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason All-America

SPARKS, MD. - North Carolina men's lacrosse defensive midfielder Connor Maher was named a preseason second-team All-America by USA Lacrosse Magazine, the publication announced Tuesday afternoon. The Timonium, Md. product was one of seven Atlantic Coast Conference players who landed on the first or second team.Â
Named a team captain prior to the 2023 campaign for the second consecutive season, Maher finished second on the team with 43 ground balls and caused 10 turnovers in 2022, while also recording two goals and two assists.Â
Last season, Maher saw action in all 14 games and was named a second-team All-America by Inside Lacrosse, USILA and USA Lacrosse Magazine. Maher was also named to the All-ACC team, the ACC All-Academic team and was a selected as a Top-10 UNC Scholar-Athlete.
The Tar Heels kick off the 2023 season exactly one month from today, welcoming Mercer to Dorrance Field.Â
