What are you studying at UNC?
I am a Sociology major.
Did you ever question your ability to compete at the Power 5 level?
Prior to Carolina, I'd watch UNC and other teams and I always knew that I could compete at this level. There was never a doubt in my mind. I am really glad to be here and so grateful to be able to represent the University of North Carolina.Â
Once arriving at UNC, what was the moment you knew you could compete at this level?
To be honest, the first day of practice I had jitters. I felt good but I was definitely anxious and ready to prove myself. During that first practice, I lined up and pressed Tez (Walker) on one of the first reps. Then, to myself, I said "This isn't much different. It's just football at the end of the day."
What is it like playing in front of fans at Kenan Stadium?
Kenan has an amazing atmosphere and to have our type of fans is a blessing. To be able to play on a big stage with fans like ours is unbelievable.Â
Thoughts on teammates wanting each other to succeed?
Everybody is for each other on this team. I know a lot of teams say that but you don't always feel it or see it. For us, it's the truth. There is buy-in from everyone on this team. Everyone has a role and is a part of a rotation at some capacity, so we have to make sure we have a selfless approach.Â
Favorite thing to do growing up?
Go to the beach. We didn't go all the time but when we did, I loved it.
What is a place you want to visit but have never been?
I really want to go check out California. I've never been to California but that is a trip I want to make very soon.
What is your favorite meal?
My mom's poppyseed chicken. It's great and I always loved when she cooked it when I was growing up. My mom's poppyseed chicken is by far my favorite meal.
What is on the pregame playlist?
I split it into two different playlists for different times. A few hours before the game, I'll play more chill and laid back music to relax a bit. Once we get on the field for pregame activity, I'll listen to more pump up music to lock in.
If you had a chance to train and compete in the Olympics in a sport or event other than football, what would it be?
I'll go with tennis. Outside of football and once I get older, I want to get into tennis. I don't want to play golf, I want to get into tennis.
What's something that most people wouldn't know about you?
Probably my sense of humor. Most people wouldn't know that until they spend a lot of time around me. I am not a stand-up comedian but I think I can make some well-timed jokes.
What was it like seeing Tez Walker take the field last week?
Honestly, I think I was more excited than him. I don't know how I would've responded to his situation if it were me but to see him take the field after all he's been through was amazing.
What is a hidden talent that you have?
I can dance. Most people don't know it but yes, I can dance.
What is the one thing that you can beat anyone in the locker room in?
NBA2K. After all of the trades are updated and I play with the Bucks, I don't think anyone will be able to stop me.
