Rucker Named To Bednarik Award Midseason Watch List

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -Â Kaimon Rucker, a two-time ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week in 2023 and week one's Walter Camp National Player of the Week has been named to the midseason watch list for the 29th Bednarik Award announced Thursday by the Maxwell Football Club.Â

The Hartwell, Ga. native is tied for seventh in the FBS with 6.5 sacks through six games for the Tar Heels. In addition, Rucker has tallied 29 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss and eight sacks for North Carolina this season. His 22 hurries are tied for fourth nationally amongst edge rushers according to PFF.

Rucker is one of 13 defensive players who were added to the watch list.
The Chuck Bednarik Award which is presented annually to the most outstanding defensive player in college football after each season.
Players named were selected by the Maxwell Football Club national selection committee and will be eligible for consideration as semifinalists for the award.Â
Semifinalists will be announced on Monday November 13th and voting will commence on November 14th.
