VB Falls To Wolfpack In Four

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Carolina volleyball team (10-11, 4-8 ACC) dropped a four-set heartbreaker to NC State (17-6, 7-6 ACC) on Sunday afternoon in Carmichael Arena. After falling behind 2-0, Carolina came back to take set three from the Wolfpack, before dropping set four, 25-23.
Mabrey Shaffmaster led the offense with her third double-double in the last four matches, tallying 19 kills, 11 digs, an ace and a pair of blocks.
Zoe Behrendt recorded her first career double-double, quarterbacking the offense with 33 assists, 12 digs and four blocks.
Sydney Nolan led the Tar Heels at the net, tallying a match-best seven blocks, while Maddy May led the defense with a match-best 17 digs.
Both teams had 11 blocks, but Carolina was outhit .243-.173 and the Wolfpack tallied 57 kills to 44 from the Tar Heels.
The Tar Heels return to Carmichael on Friday, hosting Virginia Tech at 6 p.m.
