Home Runs Power Navy's Attack In Tuesday's 7-2 Win

Chapel Hill, NC --Â Â The Navy squad rode the strength of five home runs to take a 7-2 win over Blue in a nine-inning scrimmage on Tuesday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium.
Ryker Galaska started things off for Navy with a two-run homer to right center in the first. Navy picked up two more runs in the fourth when Johnny Castagnozzi belted a 438-foot homer to center followed by Reece Holbrook's solo shot to right.
Blue picked up its first run in the sixth on Parks Harber's run-scoring single. Navy followed with a Jackson Rusiecki solo homer in the seventh to go up 5-1. Blue picked up a run in the eighth when Alex Madera scored on a fielder's choice. John Long's two-run homer to left in the ninth gave Navy their final 7-2 margin.Â
Reece Holbrook was the only Navy player with multiple base hits as he went 2-4 with one RBI and one run scored. Five of Navy's six hits were home runs. Alex Madera went 3-4 with one run scored to pace Blue.
Ten pitchers saw action in the scrimmage. Boston Flannery, Will Simmons, Luke Osteen, Harrison Lewis and Connor Hegan threw for Navy. Olin Johnson, Francesco Capocci, Aidan Haugh, Hugh Collins and Michael Colonna pitched for Blue.
Flannery tossed 3.0 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and striking out two. Osteen and Hegan each threw 1.0 scoreless innings. Collins was the only Blue pitcher who did not give up a run, hurling a quick 1-2-3 eighth inning.
The Tar Heels will hold their next closed scrimmage on Friday.
