Chip Lindsey Named A Nominee For The 2023 Broyles Award

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Chip Lindsey has been nominated for the Broyles Award, which is given annually to the nation's top assistant coach.

Lindsey is one of 57 assistants nominated nationally, including nine from the ACC. Lindsey is in his first full season as the team's offensive coordinator after arriving in Chapel Hill following a year at UCF.

North Carolina's offense ranks first in the ACC in scoring offense (39.9 ppg), passing offense (321.9) and total offense per game (520.6) while the Tar Heels rank second in the ACC in rushing yard per game (198.7).Â
Nationally, North Carolina's offense ranks amongst the top 20 in all major offensive categories. Through 10 games, the UNC offense ranks third in total offense (520.6 ypg), eighth in scoring (39.9 ppg) and passing (321.9 ypg) while Carolina ranks 19th in rushing yards per game with 198.7.Â

This season, the Tar Heels have scored 30 or more points in nine of the team's 10 games and 40 or more points on seven occasions this season.
The 57 nominees in this year's class were selected from approximately 1,500 assistant coaches representing 131 FBS programs across the country.
The 28th-Annual Broyles Award Ceremony is a two-day event celebrating excellence in assistant coaching. Beginning with the arrival of coaches on Monday and ending with the announcement of the winner during Tuesday's luncheon. These two days are filled with opportunities to connect with nominees, past winners, and honored guests.
