CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina women's soccer team continues its quest for the 23rd national championship in program history, playing in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, Nov. 17. UNC, who earned a No. 3 seed, will take on sixth-seed Alabama in Lubbock, Texas.

Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET (2:30 CT) at John Walker Soccer Complex and the match will air on ESPN+.

The Tar Heels and Crimson Tide – who both advanced to the College Cup last year – will face off for the second time this season. The teams played each other in Tuscaloosa on Sept. 10, ending in a 1-1 draw.

North Carolina has an all-time record of 145-17-5 in the NCAA Tournament.
The Tar Heels are 27-1 in the NCAA Second Round, out-scoring its first-round opponents 109-12.
UNC extends its streak as the only team to appear in all 42 NCAA Tournaments.
Carolina has won 21 of 41 NCAA titles (plus the 1981 AIAW title for 22 national championships).
The Tar Heels have appeared in 31 College Cups, including four of the last five.

Carolina, which enters the match with an 11-1-8 overall record, defeated Towson, 3-1, in the NCAA First Round.
Alabama boasts a 12-4-5 mark on the year and posted a 2-0 victory over Western Carolina in its first round matchup.
This will be the fourth meeting between UNC and UA in program history with the Tar Heels leading the all-time series at 2-0-1.
The two teams faced each other earlier this season in Tuscaloosa for a hard-fought 1-1 draw. Avery Patterson scored in the 59th minute.
Cox has made 107 career appearances, the most among all active DI players. She's currently tied for first in UNC history and fifth all-time in NCAA DI history.
Ally Sentnor was named the ACC Midfielder of the Year, the first Tar Heel to earn such honor since the league began designating positional awards in 2004.
Sentnor and Patterson were tabbed to the All-ACC First Team while Bell, Savy King and Sam Meza were selected to the All-ACC Second Team. King and Evelyn Shores garnered ACC All-Freshman Team praise.
Carolina's stalwart defense has held 18 of its 20 opponents to 10 shots or less, nine of those to five or fewer and three to only one.
The Tar Heels' defense have kept opponents to a shotless half six times this year, including in the second half in last week's NCAA First Round.
UNC finished the regular season (10-0-8) without a loss for the first time since 2004.

The winner of Friday's match will advance to the third round on Sunday, Nov. 19, to face the winner of second-seed Texas Tech vs. seventh-seed Princeton. The game will also be held at John Walker Soccer Complex in Lubbock.
