How It Happened
- The Tar Heels got things started fast, jumping out to a 1-0 lead just 1:51 into the match. An Ally Sentnor corner kick found Maycee Bell inside the box, who headed it into the far post for her second goal of the year.
- UNC quickly made it 2-0 seven minutes later when give-and-go passing between Sam Meza and Tori Dellaperuta made its way to Sentnor. Driving forward into the box and holding off five BYU players, Sentnor's left-footed strike deflected off a defender and into the lower right.
- Sentnor added another tally in the 20th minute when her right-footed free kick from nearly 20 yards out sailed over BYU's keeper and into the back of the net.
- Carolina carried its 3-0 lead into the break, also holding an 8-5 edge in shots and 6-2 advantage in shots on goal.
- The Cougars came into the second half aggressive, firing off eight shots before Bella Folino converted her attempt to get BYU on the board in the 61st minute.
- Brecken Mozingo put the Cougars within one in the 81st minute before Folino added another goal to even the score at three apiece in the 82nd minute.
- Olivia Katoa netted the game-winner in the 89th minute, sending the Cougars to the College Cup with a final score of 4-3.
- Sentnor's brace was the third of her career, all which have come during the NCAA Tournament. She also recorded two goals against both Old Dominion and Georgia in last year's first and second rounds, respectively.
- Sentnor capped off the season with 11 goals, seven assists and 29 points to lead the Tar Heels in all categories. She has 21 career NCAA Tournament points behind nine goals and three assists.
- Emmie Allen had a career-high 10 saves, besting her previous high of nine from the NCAA Semifinals on Dec. 2, 2022. She had eight saves in the second half.
- Allen, Bell, Emily Colton and Savy King logged a full 90 minutes. King ends her freshman season with a team-high 2,030 minutes.
