McNeil Captures Third-Place Finish At Cliff Keen Invitational

LAS VEGAS, NEV. - North Carolina wrestler Lachlan McNeil captured a third-place finish Saturday, at the 2023 Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.

The Tar Heel 141-pounder fell to No. 7 Ryan Jack in Saturday morning's semifinal, but would bounce back with back-to-back decisions in the consolation bracket to claim the bronze.

Against NC State's Jack, McNeil would fall in a close match, 4-2, but would respond with a 5-2 decision over No. 24 Tagen Jamison of Oklahoma State, and a 6-3 verdict against No. 9 Cael Happel from Northern Iowa in the bronze medal match.

The Tar Heels return to the mat in Carmichael Arena on Saturday, December 16 at 5 PM, hosting Morgan State.
