CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina football team has been selected to play in the 2023 Duke's Mayo Bowl against the West Virginia Mountaineers. The Tar Heels will appear in a bowl game for the fifth year in a row and the 38th time in program history.
Â
The Duke's Mayo Bowl will be played on Wednesday, Dec. 27 with a 5:30 p.m. (EST) kickoff at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. The game will be televised on ESPN.
Â
Rams Club members and season ticket holders will receive an email from the UNC Athletic Ticket Office with information on how to request tickets later this evening. The deadline for ticket requests is Friday, December 8 at 5 p.m. If tickets in UNC's allotment remain after the request period, those will go on-sale to the public at that time. Travel packages are available by clicking HERE.
Â
"We're excited to be headed to Charlotte to play in the Duke's Mayo Bowl," said Carolina head coach Mack Brown. "The good people with the Charlotte Sports Foundation do a great job with the game and all the events during the week. We're looking forward to diving into bowl practice, heading to Charlotte, and taking on a tough West Virginia team later this month."
Â
Carolina finished the regular season with a 8-4 overall record this season. The Tar Heels will face Big-12 representative West Virginia, which finished the regular season 8-4 and 6-3 in conference play. This will be the third game between the Tar Heels and the Mountaineers and first since 2008.
Â
Carolina owns a 15-22 record in bowl appearances. This will be the 27th bowl game for Head Coach Mack Brown, who owns a 15-11 record in postseason games.
