WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Carolina softball team (10-16, 1-2 ACC) fell on the road to UNCW (9-13) on Wednesday night, 6-1. Despite drawing a season-high six walks, the Tar Heels were limited to a season-low three hits compared to 10 from the Seahawks.

Carlie Myrtle had two hits, a new career best, while Lexi Godwin tallied her first double of the season. Aneshia Jordan plated Carolina's sole run of the game in the top of the seventh on a passed ball.

Bailey McCachren (3-4) took the loss in the circle, pitching 3.2 innings, allowing six hits, three earned runs with one walk.

Kenna Raye Dark, who entered the game in the bottom of the fourth, pitched the remaining 2.1 innings, allowing a pair of runs. Dark had the Tar Heels' sole strikeout of the day.

At the plate, UNCW struck out Carolina seven times.

This is the Tar Heels' first loss to UNCW since last visiting Wilmington on April 3, 2018.
