Women's Swimming & Diving Set For NCAA Championship Meet

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of North Carolina women's swimming and diving team will compete in the 2023 NCAA Championships beginning Wednesday, March 15, at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Tennessee.
The event runs through March 18. Each session stream on ESPN+ ,and live results are available online and the Meet Mobile app.
The Tar Heels have ten ladies competing: six swimmers and four divers.
Senior Grace Countie earn a spot in three individual events: 50 and 100 free, and the 100 back. Last season she finished sixth in the 50 free and 100 back and seventh in the 100 free. She is a projected A finalist in the 50 free after posting the fifth-fastest qualifying time and a B finalist in the 100 back.
The senior duo of Sophie Lindner and Ellie VanNote each qualified in a pair of events. VanNote is a projected B finalist in both of her events, with the No. 12 qualifying time in the 100 fly and 16th-best time in the 200 fly. .She will also compete in the 200 IM. Lindner qualified to compete in both backstroke events and will participate in the 200 free.
The sophomore threesome of Olivia Nel, Greer Pattison, and Skyler Smith will also participate in multiple events. Nel and Pattison will each compete in the 50 and 100 free and the 100 back, with Smith participating in both breaststroke events.
Junior Aranza Vazquez is one of the favorites in the diving well. She will compete on both springboards and the platform after sweeping the events at the 2023 ACC Championships. As a sophomore last season, Vazquez claimed the bronze medal in the 1-meter springboard competition at the 2022 NCAA Championships after she finished as the runner-up in both springboard competitions in 2021.
Senior Emily Grund will compete in both springboard events, with junior Paige Burrell will participate in the 1-meter diving competition and freshman Haley Marshall in the 3-meter springboard.
