No. 14 Men’s Lacrosse Suffers Setback At No. 4 Duke

DURHAM, N.C. – No. 14 University of North Carolina men's lacrosse (4-3, 1-1) dropped a 15-8 decision at No. 4 Duke (7-1, 2-0) on Friday night at Koskinen Stadium in Durham, North Carolina.
The Tar Heels will have a chance to bounce back Sunday against Dartmouth in Chapel Hill.

How It Happened
- James Matan scored his seventh of the year to begin scoring for the Tar Heels 10 minutes into the game, but Carolina trailed 6-1 at the end of the opening frame.
- Two quick goals from Harry Wellford and Lance Tillman in the final 36 seconds of the second quarter chipped away at the Tar Heels' deficit, but the Blue Devils held a 9-4 lead at the half.
- UNC exploded after the break, making it a 6-0 run after scoring four unanswered goals within the first 3.5 minutes of the third quarter.
- Johnny Schwarz's fifth career goal continued to close the gap, putting Carolina within one at 9-8 with 11:37 on the clock in the third quarter.
- The Blue Devils ended the game on a 6-0 run to seal the 15-8 win.
- It was Matan's second straight multi-goal game and the third of his career.
- Tillman also tallied two for his fourth multi-goal contest of the year.
- Paul Barton had a game-high-tying two caused turnovers.
- Friday marked Logan McGovern's 32nd game scoring a goal.
