PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Junior Mac Horvath hit two of No. 18 North Carolina's six home runs and drove in four runs, and the Tar Heels wrapped up a 17-7 win over Pittsburgh as the teams finished a suspended game from Friday night at Charles L. Cost Field. Game two of the doubleheader was postponed due to weather conditions as the temperatures continued to drop and snow started to fall. The teams will resume their series Sunday, March 19, at 1 p.m.

Tomas Frick, Alberto Osuna, Johnny Castagnozzi and Colby Wilkerson also connected for UNC (15-5, 2-2 ACC), who has scored 49 runs in its last three games.

The Tar Heels collected a season-high 19 hits, while also posting its most runs in a game since scoring 19 against VCU in the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional last season.

UNC led 9-7 at the end of the fourth when play was suspended Friday night.

Tar Heel right-hander Connor Bovair (2-1) took the mound when play resumed and pitched five scoreless innings, allowing two hits with a UNC career-best eight strikeouts.

"Connor set the tone right away on the mound for us and was outstanding from his first pitch to his last," UNC head coach Scott Forbes said. "I am proud of our guys battling through those conditions and being ready to play."

UNC scored three runs in the second inning, four in the third, two more in the fourth and five in the fifth – after Pittsburgh (8-9, 1-3) plated two in its half of the fourth to get within two runs. The scoring concluded with a run in the sixth and two in the eight.

All but one of North Carolina's homers came with at least one man on base. Osuna hit a solo home run to tie the game in the second and Castagnozzi followed with a two-run shot off Pitt starter Jack Sokol (2-1) to put the Tar Heels ahead, 3-1.

Wilkerson hit his first career home run in the fifth inning as part of a three-hit game that included a career-high five RBIs. Horvath and Casey Cook also collected three hits each.
