CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – UNC diver Anton Down-Jenkins has been named to the inaugural Academic All-America® men's swimming and diving teams as selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). Men's swimming and diving had previously been a part of the men's at-large team until this season.
Down-Jenkins picks up the honor on the eve of the 2023 NCAA Division I men's swimming and diving championships in Minneapolis. While pursuing a degree in media and journalism, he has maintained a 3.73 GPA. He finished second on the 3-meter springboard and fifth in the 1-meter competition at the NCAA Zone B Regional event to qualify for this season's national championship meet.
Earlier this year, Down-Jenkins was selected as one of 53 recipients of the ACC Postgraduate Scholarship, a year after being named ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
This is the first time he has been named a CSC Academic All-America® student-athlete after receiving CSC Academic All-District honors in 2021-22 and 2022-23.
A native of Wellington, New Zealand, Down-Jenkins is a six-time College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) All-America diver, four-time CSCAA Scholar All-America recipient, three-time ACC champion and two-time ACC Diver of the Year in addition to earning ACC All-Academic Team honors each of the previous two seasons.
