Softball Hosts Syracuse In Final Home Conference Series

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – In the final home conference series of the season, the Carolina softball team (17-24, 6-8 Atlantic Coast Conference) welcomes Syracuse to Anderson Stadium on April 15-16.
The Tar Heels will open the weekend with a 11 a.m./2 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday, which will both be streamed on ACCNX. The series finale, slated for Sunday at 2 p.m., will be broadcasted live on the ACC Network.

SCOUTING THE ORANGE
- Syracuse is 13-19-1 on the season with a 3-10-1 record in conference play. Their sole ACC series win was against NC State on April 6-8
- Madelyn Lopez leads Syracuse with a .361 batting average and leads in the team in hits (26), walks (12), triples (2) and total bases (37). Kelly Breen has driven in a team-best 13 runs
- Lindsey Hendrix has pitched a team-high 87.2 innings in the circle and has a 4.07 ERA with 60 strikeouts
- The Orange rank No. 6 in fielding in the ACC (.966 fielding percentage), twelfth in pitching (4.45 ERA) and twelfth in batting average (.233)
- Syracuse has won two of the last three series against Carolina, both sweeps, most recently in Chapel Hill in 2020
- Last season, Carolina needed one win in their final regular-season series at Syracuse in April 2022 to make the ACC Tournament. Syracuse ended up sweeping Carolina to claim the final spot in the conference tournament
- Carolina went 2-0 against Syracuse in the Orange's last trip to Chapel Hill in 2021
