RALEIGH, N.C. - The North Carolina rowing program is set to return to action this weekend, co-hosting the 2023 Lake Wheeler Invitational, along with Duke.

The 18-team event, will be comprised of three rounds over the two days of competition. The first round will get underway Friday at 10 AM, and round two will start Friday afternoon at 3 PM. Last Time Out
On March 31 and April 1, the Tar Heels traveled south to the Sunshine State Invitational. On day one, UNC advanced both of its varsity eight boats to the A-finals, and the varsity four squad advanced to the B-finals.

In the first varsity eight opener, the Tar Heels finished fourth in their respective heat with a time of 6:45.05. The finish was just over an eight-second improvement from their season opening time against Clemson on March 4. For the second varsity eight, North Carolina crossed the finish line in a time of 6:56.03, good for fifth in their heat. Once again, UNC continued to trim time off their mark set earlier this month, shaving nine seconds.

UNC rounded out day one with the first varsity four, North Carolina would finish fifth in its heat, concluding with a time of 7:40.00, almost a 20 second improvement from the season opener.

One day two, the varsity four boat finished second in their final, crossing the finish line just eight second behind the first-place crew from Drexel in the varsity four race, finishing in a time of 22:49.04. In the first varsity eight race, Carolina finished eighth with a time of 6:46.86. In the second varsity eight final, the Tar Heels also posted an eighth-place effort, crossing with a mark of 6:50.83, improving on their time from Friday night by nearly six seconds.
