Tar Heels Claim Top Overall WTEN Seed For Third Consecutive Season

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina is the top overall seed for the 2023 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Team Championship and has also been named a host school for one of 16 regional sites. This is the third-straight season that the Tar Heels were selected as the No. 1 seed in the 64-team field.
UNC will host Charleston Southern, Old Dominion and South Carolina on Friday, May 5, and Saturday, May 6, at the newly constructed Chewning Tennis Center in Chapel Hill.
The Tar Heels will face Charleston Southern (16-7) to begin regional play.
The first round of regionals will take place on Friday, while the two first-round winners will meet Saturday, for the right to advance to the NCAA Super Regional round the following weekend.
North Carolina earned a national seed in the team championship for the 19th time in 20 seasons under the direction of head coach Brian Kalbas. Carolina makes its 24th consecutive appearance in the national tournament and 19th in a row under Kalbas.
The Tar Heels own an all-time NCAA record of 56-23 and have advanced beyond the regional round on 17 occasions, including a run to the 2014 NCAA Championship final and the semifinals in 2010, 2019, 2021 and 2022.
