CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Premier Lacrosse League continued its 2023 campaign this past weekend, with nine North Carolina men's lacrosse alums making their return to play in the Tar Heel State, playing at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte.
June 9 - Chrome vs. Archers
The Archers Lacrosse Club became one of two teams to improve to 2-0 on the young season, with rookie Connor Maher finding the back of the net with his long one-point goal. On the flip side, Justin Anderson added one groundball for the Chrome, who suffered their first loss of the season.
June 10 - Whipsnakes vs. Atlas
Chris Gray posted one assist and two groundballs, but his go-ahead goal with just seconds left helped lift Atlas LC over the Whipsnakes, to collect their first victory of the season.
June 10 - Chaos vs. Cannons
The final matchup of the weekend for the PLL saw six former Tar Heels between the two clubs. For the Chaos LC, Chris Cloutier scored once in his season debut and midfielder Will Perry added a goal and two groundballs. On the defensive side, Will Bowen and Jack Rowlett combined for five groundballs. For the Cannons, Marcus Holman continued his early season success, scoring three goals and dishing out an assist. At the faceoff X, Stephen Kelly went 15-25 and added 10 groundballs. Kelly's 15 FO wins were tied for the most of the weekend in the PLL.
